Named after the famous Mulholland Drive in LA, it is based on the S2 platform that's shared with the LiveWire Del Mar and Alpinista. Accordingly, performance is of the same order; 0-60 in a blistering 3 seconds, a top speed of around 100mph, and a range in excess of around 120 city miles. More spirited riding on main roads is likely to see that range reduce to 70 miles, so the bike is aimed at medium-distance leisure riding and commuting. The Mulholland has been designed to be fun, exciting and safe, all of which it achieves with extraordinary ease.
Characteristically, the Mulholland is a cruiser-styled motorcycle with long forks, high bars, a fairly low, 31.7" seat, and a 19",120mm front tyre and a 17", 180mm rear. Whilst the Mulholland owes a lot to its Harley Davidson heritage, its performance, smoothness and soundtrack are from the modern EV era. This allows the rider to experience a motorcycle that feels more like a force of nature, which simply has to be experienced to be understood.
What is remarkable about the S2 platform is the vast torque that's produced by the liquid-cooled, permanent magnet synchronous motor, which enables the bike to react instantaneously, at any point within its three-digit speed envelope. It's not just the speed of response, but the sheer effortlessness of the performance that's unleashed by a small twist of the throttle.
The chassis, Showa suspension and Brembo brakes are all of the highest quality, and the safety features include cornering enhanced ABS and Traction control, which work across all five riding modes. Also, the addition of a reverse feature makes the Mulholland easy to park and manoeuvre across a wide variety of surfaces and inclines.
Choosing between the original S2 Del Mar and the Mulholland is a matter of aesthetic appeal, as both have a 19" front wheel and share the same drivetrain and electronics, the same 10.5kWh battery and 5kW, Type 2 charging socket. This achieves a 20-80% charge in 78 minutes, or alternatively, the bike can be charged from a regular mains socket in six hours using the included mains adapter.
