The NIU MQi series platform is offered in a lightweight, single battery version, as well as a longer, dual battery version called the GT. Both variants share the same styling and features, however, the dual battery GT version has larger, 14" wheels, a more powerful motor and weighs around 40 kg more. The GT ER (Extended Range) also has a higher top speed of 43 mph.
The entry level MQi+ electric scooter is a 50cc equivalent with a 28 mph top speed and rides on ten inch wheels, which help to achieve NIU's lowest seat height of just 750mm. The long, single seat can accommodate a pillion and the rear alloy foot pegs elegantly retract into the bodywork to leave a flush finish.
The GT versions of the MQi both have a top speed of 43 mph and are 104mm longer than MQi+ due to the twin battery, under-seat layout, which increases capacity by 50% in the case of the SR (Standard Range) and by 100% in the case of the ER (Extended Range). The longer wheelbase. increased weight and larger wheels result in greater straight line stability and a seat height of 790mm.
The MQi models benefit from NIU's signature halo lighting, and additional side LEDs ensure 360 degree visibility. Three rider modes allow prioritisation between range and performance. Other features include cruise control, a USB socket, a phone pocket and self-cancelling indicators. Linked brakes provide outstanding stopping power and NIU's EBC technology also recovers energy into the battery under braking.
