2024 Zero DSR - Adventure Electrified
Following last year's launch of the DSR/X, the world's first, true, electric adventure bike, for 2024 Zero has introduced two further adventure models based on the same platform. The DSR sits squarely in the middle of this line-up, and the best way to summarise exactly how it compares to the DS and the DSR/X is by the table below.
As can be seen, the DSR has an A2 licence requirement so it can release more peak and continuous power than the DS, and it has nearly 30% more torque. This translates to faster acceleration and a 20% uplift in top and sustained top speed, making it better suited to dual-carriageway and motorway runs. To help with the 15% increase in power the battery gets 8% more capacity at 15.6 kWh, although the charger remains at 3 kW.
The small price premium of the DSR over the DS makes it a no-brainer for A2 or full licence holders, and it sits nearly £4k below the cost of the DSR/X. If faster charging, more power, a higher top speed and an increased battery capacity are all necessary, then the DSR/X will be the better choice. It's also important to mention that the DSR uses the same motor as the DSR/X, so a Cypherstore performance upgrade can be purchased at any point in the future.
The DSR represents great value for those looking for adventure bike comfort and ability without blowing the budget. The performance upgrade option always leaves the door open if there's a possibility that more power or battery capacity will be needed in the future.
